Warm & Cozy Winter Solutions!
With the Polar Vortex in full swing and part of the country hitting record-breaking cold temperatures, we parents need more ways than ever to relax indoors with our families. To avoid cabin fever no matter what your thermostat is reading this winter, here are some fabulous finds I featured on a recent premiere of WJLA’s The Mother Side, a show dedicated to everything #momlife.
REJUVENATING FACIAL MASKS
Nothing guarantees mom some quiet time more than donning a face mask around the house. Wear one of these for 15-20 minutes and I find the kids will definitely leave you alone for a few! I’m joking, but Vitabrid’s masks are packed with vitamin C and peptides to promote deep hydration, firming and smoothing of the skin, and give your complexion that relaxed glow. Just what mamas need during all these snow days!
$35, Vitabrid C12 Dual Sheet Mask Box Set, 5 masks, barneys.com
FAUX FUR THROW
Cuddle time is key to getting the family to unwind and chillax at day’s end and this faux fur throw from West Elm does just the trick. Place it on the sofa and watch your tribe, one by one, crawl under and request cocoa and storytime.

$49.99 originally $99, Faux Fur Arctic Throws, 2 styles, westelm.com
HYDRATING BODY BUTTERS
Soothing dry wintry skin can bring great calm and relief for the entire family; my kids suffer from varying degrees of eczema so I get it. I discovered these amazing, all-natural, handmade body butters by Old Whaling Company on a road trip with my family, and from their base of hydrating shea butter to mesmerizing scents like Seaberry and Sea-la-Vie (super fun, nautical names!) to a non-greasy finish--I was sold. Now I buy on Etsy in bulk and gift to friends and teachers alike!
$12 for 8 oz., assorted fragrances, OldWhalingCompany etsy.com
ANIMAL BATH WRAPS
When I was a baby, I was known to run around the house naked; this was my bath-time experience! But if I had an animal bath wrap? Forget about it. I would agree to dry off, jump into the arms of my receiving parent and relax with greater ease into my nighttime routine. These animals of raccoon, unicorn, bear and goat are just too cute and make the best gifts. Up to 24 months. Monogramming available for $9.50 each.
$25, normally $34.50, westelm.com
KNITTED ACCESSORIES
Handknit by Nepalese women, these adorable caps, mittens and earmuffs will not only teach your children about responsible global commerce but also will keep them chicly warm and cozy during these bone-chilling days.
From $25, Nirvanna Designs assorted accessories, nirvannadesigns.com
ADORABLE BEAN BAG
Make a comfortable corner for your kids! This fluffy, faux fur bean bag is so inviting for kids to curl up and read and have some chill downtime. Plus, there are tons of animals and characters like Hello Kitty and Chewbacca for kids to choose from, but my favorite? The ubiquitous unicorn!
From $143 (normally $179), Critter Bean Bag Slipcover; Bean bag insert $223 (normally $308), pbteen.com
