Style Me Something Good! Jan 12

For this edition of the Today show’s Style Me Something Good Makeover Challenge, we have two women who tirelessly give back to their communities and their families. See how I addressed the style challenges and found looks that fit their lifestyles.

TYRA: Graphic Print Dress w/ Slingback Bootie

For social worker Tyra, her milestone 50th birthday brings about a new age, and a desire to ditch her sweatpants and yoga pants for a celebratory, trendy new look.

Really bold graphic prints have set the tone this fall, with watercolors having an artsy appeal. Here an abstract watercolor print is an absolute scene-stealer on Tyra, with poofy sleeves and a key-hole neck from Eloquii that gorgeously embraces her silhouette: she said she loves how flowy the fabric is!

We’re upgrading categories she truly loves for her birthday that includes hats and dresses, which she says she’s known for. Here this felt, structured hat by Tenth Street Hats has an amazing color-tie in with the dress, still allows us to see her face, and is versatile to go with other looks in her closet.

Lastly, loving this slingback bootie by White House Black Market, for its hardware detailing--a chain on the back strap--and the sleek cutout in the front that elongates the leg.

Honestly, Tyra looked great in everything we tried on, but this birthday ensemble is a winner!

LISA: Sophisticated Sweater Duster

This tireless volunteer was tired of her look. For Lisa I wanted to find her clothes that would give her an immediate upgrade, but could move with her during various volunteer meetings, events and functions.

The long sweater duster is a style staple this season and the only outerwear she’ll need for her warmer winter climate in North Carolina. It gives her that pulled-together look she’s been wanting over a super flattering white T-shirt and fitted yet comfortable pants, all from J.Jill.

Against a palette of neutrals, the multi-colored, jacquard scarf is a great way to add some color, and here I chose hues that really softened her look and reflected back warmth.

It’s all about micro bags this season, so here’s Cher Micro Signet Purple Bag from Angela Roi: a bag that is ethically sourced and made by hand. Find a discount code below to take advantage of some savings!

Lastly her pointy, leather boots from TJMAXX really elongate her frame and will go with tons of other looks in the future.
