Kids' Winter Dressing!

What an amazingly bright and sparkling season and one that allows kids in on the hottest trends in preparation for everything from outdoor activities, formal affairs and maybe just a cute snap for Insta! These looks will stand the test of time this entire winter season.

Here I share the details of my Today show segment with Hoda, Jenna and Maria Shriver, with the cutest little elves ever!

TREE FARM CASUAL

Some of the finest holiday moments are best casually attired, for example with our TREE FARM CASUAL siblings!

Model Caleb wearing Tree Farm Casual

For little brother Caleb, I love the chino on denim trend and this piece is sold entirely together—including top, bottom, suspenders and buffalo bowtie for a fantastic price! I love all in one dressing especially with a toddler as it makes life so much easier! And it’s always smart to consider sneakers for a toddler, especially if they are headed for fun outdoors.

Cat & Jack Harrison Sneaker, $19.99, target.com

Model Dylan wearing Tree Farm Casual

For older bro Dylan, lots of layers to keep him warm from Abercrombie Fitch Kids that he can add or subtract depending on the weather, including my favorite: an ombré puffer jacket with recycled fill and faux fur lining. Here’s a special highlight with his organic cotton hoodie by Winter Water Factory. Made in the USA with amazing silkscreened signature prints, this one called Winter Scenic featuring foxes, deer and bunnies, traversing a snowy landscape. Boots perfect for trekking the outdoors by Marshall’s for under $20.

HOLIDAY ELVES!

In my years of doing this, I’ve never done a smashup of  classic holiday prints and loaded them like gifts in a sleigh into one group!

Models left to right: Scarlett, Julie, Baby Grayson and Mom Alyssa.

On models left to right:

Scarlett has a tree-on-a-truck handmade pinafore by Worthy Threads, which is a sweet scene to wear all winter long. Paired up with a trending red ruffled shirt by H&M at only $9.99 and sweet lace up boots from Fabkids: they honestly have the best shoes for kids!

Red Ruffle Jersey Top, $9.99, hm.com

Side Tied Ankle Boots, $29.95-$42, fabkids.com

Red Sparkle Bow, $11.50, milledeux.com

For Julie, her sweet smile comes alive in tartan, which was an inescapable print down the runways. Look for soft, cozy sweaters with embellishments that will keep your kiddos warm and some starry shoes—again from Fabkids--that this superstar doesn’t want to take off!

White Sweater with Sequins, $12.99, H&M

Plaid Pants, $12.99, hm.com

Black Star Sparkle Shoe, from $24.95, fabkids.com

Reindeer Headband, $5.97, nordstromrack.com

As for 4-month-old Grayson, we’re keeping it knitted and nice in a soft, Tea Collection’s sustainable romper, including a Sherpa hat and booties after their winter Nepalese theme. (The romper does come with a matching hat, but I simply couldn’t resist these accessories!)

The below groups were combined in the segment, Mod & Merry flanking on the outside, Suitable Separates in the middle!

Models from left to right: Rowan, Ana, Sophia and Victoria Emilia

 MOD & MERRY

Since this season is typically over the top, sometimes streamlining a look makes you a standout! Here black-and-white and animal-print pairings never looked better.

For Rowan, even with all the festivities this time of year, his mandates are comfort and minimalism, and as a parent, I’m always thinking about repurposing. So we kept things streamlined with this sharp yet easy dressing, separates from Shein: I just really dig that stylish plaid coat—there’s room for a sweater under there for as an added layer--and with a little room to grow! Plus he can use the shirt and pants to play in his orchestra concert next week!

Both kids in Mod & Merry are wearing shoes from Marshall’s.

Far Left Rowan:

Victoria Emilia is wearing a big-cat print of the season, the cheetah in her full party dress topped with an embellished-button cardigan, which is sold as a set from Kidpik. You can buy this new dressy box a la carte, without a membership. [Go to kidpik > Give a Gift  > Gift a Dressy Box!]

SUITABLE SEPARATES

Suits and separates are really hot right now! Separates in general are a great way to go if your kids are growing too fast for words…so you can find the right top and bottom to fit just right.

This tiered skirt with bronze button hardware, gives Ana all the twirl-power she needs in a vibrant teal hue! Her beautiful lace top—puffy sleeves are on trend!—and skirt are both made by a woman-owned business called Goldybelle and either handmade or high-quality small-batch production right here in the US.

Second from left Ana:

Teal Skirt from $38, goldybelle.com

Vintage Lace Blouse, $58, goldybelle.com

Grommet Boots, $19.99, marshalls.com

Milledeux headband and bows, from $11.50

Gosh, I love a suit on a girl and adore Sophia in this look! It’s sharp and oh-so girl-power while at the same time touching on rich burgundy hue and sweet elements: black tie-neck bow and lace to tie in with her sister. And it’s a 3-piece suit from Roco Clothing, so it just takes all the guesswork out of it for busy parents.

This is an example of how you don’t have to be super matchy-matchy with a sibling, still have your style personality show through and yet be perfectly paired.

Third from left Sophia:

Cara 3-piece Girl’s Burgundy Tuxedo, from $71, rococlothing.com

Amaryllis shoe, $29, rococlothing.com

Medium Bow, $11.50, milledeux.com
