Spring Fashion to Shake Things Up
I gauge the true start of spring when my kids start sneezing (allergies) and when things warm up enough that I can shed my dusters (sweaters). Neither has fully happened, and the troops are restless. Drippy rains with only teasing slivers of sunshine are hardly enough to contain us, and I'd say nearly everyone is beyond ready to step into spring fashion.
The good news is that designers instill hope this season with incredibly flirtatious and bright designs that beckon with fun takes on classics, twists on prints and bursts of creativity that exude warmth—even if the weather isn’t fully cooperating just yet!
POLKA DOTS & PASTELS
If you love a polka dot this is your moment to go spotty, as you’ll find this print on everything from bags to shoes and all your favorite frocks.
Here the periwinkle hue highlights the popularity of pastels, and the off-the-shoulder style proves that last season’s cold-shoulder hasn't lost its heat. Also look for one-shoulder, asymmetrical necklines too.

Cropped and culotte pants are the silhouette for spring and so deliciously breezy.

$445, Ray Pink Dress, lkbennett.com
FOLLOW THE FRINGE
Where Western meets bohemian cool, fringe is the darling of designers who unabashedly layer one piece atop another—like a fringed jacket with fringed pants—to create ensembles that truly move with free-spirited flow.

$42, Anja Suedette Tassel Midi Skirt, boohoo.com
GARDEN ROMANCE
Given my obsession with flowers, I’m always happy when floral prints are a part of the fashion landscape, and a variety of styles are in full bloom. It’s a romantic style of dressing that’s luxe yet relatable that makes one think of running through a field of tall grasses and getting lost in the love of it all.

$598, Botanical Chiffon Midi Dress, katespade.com
$52, Terrace Garden-Tie Top, vicicollection.com
THE SHORT TAKE: SUIT SETS
It’s a shorts story out there like at Louis Vuitton, with lots of fresh takes on suiting that allow for warmer weather. Look for shiny fabrications that make your ensemble easily wearable from day to night and pair with solid tops to counterbalance the lively sheen.

AMERICANA UPDATE
Give me your stripes, updated denim and red, white and blue, as designers like Phillip Lim and others heed us to celebrate the Fourth of July a little bit early.
$416, Natalee Blue Stripe Dress, lkbennett.com
Pair a vibrant red top with equally bold duster earrings—the latter a spring accessory must-have. I love a deep-V, simply because I have such a short neck!
